Dear Dad

by Danielle   Oct 23, 2007

As I gaze at the moon on this hot summer night,
I feel the warmth of your presence beside me.
I miss you more with each passing day,
Forever I wear my heart but you hold the key.

Today would have been your birthday,
If that tragedy hadn't struck.
I remember to this day, the amount of pain that I felt,
I wish we didn't have such horrible luck.

I remember your face as tears burn my eyes,
You gave me the world, along with your heart.
Your image is irreplaceable in my mind,
Our souls are intertwined; Never will they part.

I loved you then & I'll love you forever,
I wish you were here to celebrate this joyous day.
To be with your family & your loving friends,
But since your not, I have one last thing to say.

Dad, inside I'm still hurting but try to stay strong,
Sometimes I don't want to resume my life, but I let the thoughts be.
'cause now I have a life worth living,
I'm living it for you & not for me.

This is dedicated to my dad. He was murdered last year and I miss him more everyday.

It was a really good poem. I lost my dad this year so I know how much it hurts to lose the one guy that is closes to you. Nice job on the poem.
