The Burden of Fame

by Jessi   Oct 23, 2007

Their beauty is all you see
Seems like a life of perfection
Itâ??s the person you want to be
Trying to escape rejection

You hate yourself in all honesty
Filling the void with possession
As your friend this bothers me
Itâ??s not all glamour and attention

There is the pain they conceal
Under a lot of stress and pressure
See the scandals media reveal
From there it doesnâ??t get better

Your wounds eventually heal
But the pain never goes away
Youâ??re always in the public eye
You will feel trapped every day

Theyâ??ll see every tear you cry
You wonder if it will go away
There are doubts but you try
There could be a better way

Do something before you die
In the limelight you canâ??t stay
Your critics find a covered lie
and with your words, they seem to play

Those once loyal turn their backs
Itâ??s all over youâ??ve been destroyed
The lawsuits come at you in stacks
Your past leaves you unemployed

So desperate you turn to drugs
Lowering yourself to stay alive
Giving your body to the thugs
You pass out never to be revived

I stand alone beside your coffin
Wondering how it came to this
I still think about you often
Up in Heaven youâ??re deeply missed

You paid a price thereâ??s no one to blame
You carried the burden of this so called fame
