Night can't fall,
Can't come and take me away,
Night can't call,
And take me away from this place.
In a world of happiness,
I sit and see my children play,
Watching as they have fun,
And then comes the end of the day.
They come to our homes,
And took away our lives,
they yelled and screamed,
And separated us from our wives.
Then night falls again,
Another painful memory,
Night can't come and win,
This game I call misery.
The pain and hate,
Of living in this camp,
I can't sit and wait,
For another night of pain.
The flames are burning,
The fragile souls of children,
My heart is suddenly yearning,
For God to take us home.
Away from this place I call Hell,
I dread every moment,
I hear another bell,
The sound of more pain we all must bear.
Is it another dream,
Or do I see another night,
Left starving in hunger,
Living in terror and fright.
Away to the crematorium,
They lead another broken soul,
To be burned alive,
And thrown in an undug hole.
Night mustn't fall,
To scare the broken children,
Who yell and scream frantically calling,
Someone who loves them at all.
Where is God,
In this time of shame,
Why does he want us,
To play this unfun game.
To see us hurt,
In pain and dying,
Watching children starving,
And fragile hearts all crying.
Fighting for the right,
To live our lives so long,
Live through another night,
And see the beautiful stars.
I read the book "Night" by Elie Wiesel it is about the holocaust and the book inspired me to write this poem. I know it is sad but I hope you enjoy it. Thanks, Samye!!
