Romanticism is Dead

by the song writer   Oct 25, 2007

Love's gone, it has left this place.
it will crash and burn
you've never seen its face
and no one has seen it, heard of it
struck by the beauty of it

we lost ourselves in the making of this
and created a religion in the process
a world invaded by empty affection
defined as moments between sheets
unreal
we have become the face of deception
seductive
we lost sight of meaning

you have turned us against ourselves
threw us into this realm
self-loathing
you identified us
as the cursed,
of the world of materialism
we are nothing, delusions
a mockery of your own existence

the very ideal of warmth is absurd
candle-light, without the shared morning sun
this marvel concept of love is so unheard of
you take the star-lit sky out of context
and substitute the most suitable actions

dismiss wedding bands
ignore genuine connection
blind to one's emotional being
undermine true love

we can't be left out to dry for much longer
we're left on the outside
darkness covers our presence

we are the only one's left.
alone
in our darkness

who will love us?
