Masquerade

by SweetElectric   Oct 25, 2007

The Masquerade,
A mask parade,
A hidden face,
Of silk and lace.

The mystery,
Is the history,
Of the mask,
Worn in the past.

The ballroom dance,
Of elegant stance,
A graceful leap,
From nimble feet.

Gallant men,
Exotic women,
Fancy dress,
Costumes to impress.

To entertain,
To drink champagne,
To socialize,
In disguise.

The sky is blue,
The day is new,
From the mask parade,
The Masquerade.

* Had to write a couple of poems for English class and this of course was inspired by the masquerade in phantom of the opera*
