Who Knew?

by Hatori   Oct 26, 2007

I peer upon the silver moon,
The clouds so gracefully loom.
Wondering if you're staring,
At the same glowing light as I.

The endless hours drag on and on,
And my eyes look to the ground.
Of course he wouldn't be watching,
Why would I think that again?

It takes all of my remaining might,
To keep those sorrowful tears away.
But the will to smile is not enough,
And the clears drops fall upon your picture.

A yell of terror and fear echos,
As your picture falls to the ground.
Who knew that love like this,
Could only hurt you in the end?

So sick of tears and pain,
Your smile is burned into my mind.
So sick of wanting your warm touch,
Upon these cold, shaking hands.

The knife is stained, red and broken,
Lying frozen in the bitter ice.
The glint of a street light down the road,
Reflects off of the freshly carved name.

Pouring from the gashes,
And mixing with my tears.
My blood is a true reminder,
Of the suffering and sorrow.

Seven letters long with only one meaning,
The meaning of love and a life of longing.
I bet that you're happy in your world,
Built on words and the hope of fantasy.

I collapse upon that crystal ice,
As it shatters like my heart.
Drowning and in pain, I cry,
"Who knew love like this,
Could only hurt you in the end?"

That was the best love poem i have ever read. It's like you really get what I feel. You are amazing and I hope you keep writing poetry this deep.

    Wow.
    that was amazing.
    it was just absolutely gorgeous!
normally i don't really like love poems, because they tend to be horribly cheesy and everything but this..... you made it flow perfectly without rhyming, the emotion and story were spectacular, and it was just beautiful. 5/5
