The Place Holder

by TrueLover   Oct 28, 2007

This ring on my hand isn't really from you
I'm just pretending
(but it can be if you want it to)
It's just holding the spot
where the real one will be
Right now,
I know you can't really afford it
but this pretty gold ring that I found yesterday
is keeping my finger warm for your promise
of forever and eternal love
It's coming, I know it,
but for right now
I look down at this placeholder and smile
