The Autumn-Floating Leaf

by Soulful Ensemble   Oct 28, 2007

Nobody will love you when you're down and out
Nobody will be around to help you out.
All of your dreams will seem to shatter
While you wither, run, and scatter.

As you float around, you autumn leaf,
Your heart will melt and feel releived
That the life you left behind is gone
And now you don't have anyone.

All the girls that broke your heart
And all the boys that took their's
You'll never hear from them
The apologies you're heir to.

You're still entranced in love
You autumn-floating leaf.
Flying low with no hopes or dreams,
Waiting for the divorce that always comes,
To leave you dry, rotting, brown
And desolate with tears.

How could you be more miserable?
You're the lowest of the poor and the poorest of the low,
They call you Death
They call you McBeth the treacherous,
And there's nobody more lecherours than whoever stole your love for her.

Look at you, autumn-floating leaf,
Now glowing amber against the forest trees;
Now, then, tomorrow;
Looking for another pill to swallow--
Another hole to wallow in.

Your energy is draining fast,
How can you float, still, have no mast.
Your knowledge and happiness was once vast,
But when the train came along you passed.

"Its so hard to live without you",
"My life seems almost through."
"Burning seems to be the only thing left to do."
Said the autumn-floating leaf that was so blue.

He continued to wonder, puzzled and destroyed,
If he would find his tree to fill the void:
The only girl he enjoyed.
Would she be annoyed?

Would her leaves become stained with darkness and fall?
Would autumn follow the autumn-floating leaf in its never-ending crawl?
The little floating leaf knows its too soon to know,
But it hopes not to burn until its gone.
