Something Simple

by Lilly Tagloff   Oct 28, 2007

You wanted something simple, you wanted something fun; you wanted something that could not be hung.
On Mothers Day which is today is the special day when you get to play.
So, on this day I am going to take you on a journey where you once were before, but might not remember.
When I was 1 I gave you a card, but I can not remember what it looked like.
When I was 2 I gave you a big sloppy kiss which I practiced doing on Daddy.
When I was I was 3 I drew you a picture which looked great to you the minute you saw it.
When I was 4 I gave you a day to yourself and made Daddy take me out for ice cream.
When i was 5 I gave you a heart that I made while I was in kindergarten.
When I was 6 I wrote you a song that I made up with some help from Daddy.
When I was 7 I gave you flower with a card attached to it.
When I was 8 I dug out my craft books and made one big gift with a pinch of every craft in the book.
When I was 9 I took you out for dinner, but had some help on the bill.
When I was 10 I made you an eyeglass case, so you would not lose your glasses again.
When I was 11 I bought you a plaque with my whole life savings of $5.
When I was 12 I lost your gift, and made you a card on the computer.
When I was 13 I bought you a little something that you could put on your desk, and now it is just something else to dust.
When I was 14 I wrote you this poem and gave you a card that sang.
And now I am giving you my heart and a hug just to show you how much I care.
I love you, Mommy.
