You Say, I Say

by Danae Lenz   Oct 29, 2007

You say
the world is going downhill;
the president is going mad;
Heaven is becoming He**.
our country is led my three men with the names:
Bush, Dic*, and Colon.

You say
we move to Canada;
become crack addicts;
waste away our brains
instead of dealing with America
and all its falsities.

I say
the world is beautiful.
Dawn still comes;
the man on the moon is still lonely;
our country is free
and we are still alive.

I say
who knows what tomorrow will bring?
We should travel;
bring hope to the hopeless;
and maybe one day we will die
and know we did something right.
