Mama Africa

by Beautiful Chaos   Oct 29, 2007

Raped for all she held,
Forgotten over time,
Nothing left to steal,
No longer in her prime.

People, diamonds, gold,
Western image burned,
Never helped, but sold,
Such hatred we have earned.

Eyes of dreams and hopes,
Hanged with velvet ropes,
Slipping down the slope,
We could never cope.

Countries of great wealth,
Give less than one percent,
They can't forgive a debt,
Some sign, a small repent.

The mother of this earth,
Sadly left behind,
Tell me what she's worth,
Where's the reason in our mind?

At home or far away,
My heart heart breaks everyday,
Forgotten faces play,
In my soul of sweet decay.

Again a good write though the subject is a touchy one for me as you well know i've got a huge problem with how we treat the earth, your poem was enjoyable to read i'll spend more time browsing through your poems
