Happy for You

by longings   Oct 29, 2007

The grapevine is busy these days,
Word of you comes to me from several ways.

One will tell you seem sad,
the other tells me you are glad.

But, lately they all say the same thing,
In less than a month you'll be wearing a ring.

My heart breaks when I hear what they say,
I truly thought you'd be mine one day.

I have loved you with all I have to give,
At a time when I was dying inside you helped me to live.

You showed me a world filled with laughter and hope,
Now I lay here broken, unable to cope.

If this is what you want I am happy for you,
Just make sure this is what you want to do .

Hold her, love her, build a happy life,
It's easier to get rid of a lover than a wife.

From the day we began I was on my way out,
She has more to offer you, no doubt.

I'll be here waiting if you change your mind one day,
There's nothing more I can say.
