Answered With Silence

I asked you a question,
And didn't get an answer.
At least, not the one I wanted,
You spoke it with total silence.
I just couldn't believe it,
Is this really the end?

You just got up and walked away,
Ignoring my pleads for you to stay.
I guess you really didn't love me so,
Like you always said you did.
It hurts just to think about you,
I wish I didn't have to live without you.
I'm still needing you baby,
Just like the air that I breathe.

I was the one that ended it,
But it still hurts all the same.
You were my baby, my everything,
Whatever happened to forever?
You started ignoring me,
All those late night calls got shorter.
Soon they stopped all together,
It'd be days since we've talked.

Everyone told me you were a jerk, an a-hole,
That you didn't deserve a girl like me.
I didn't listen to their wise words sadly,
I always took my baby's side.
I guess I just didn't want to believe them,
Because you were sometimes sweet to me.

It's still over though,
I'll do my best to move on.
It'll be awhile since I can love again,
You'll be hard to get over.
I just hope you find a girl who makes you happy,
And treats you better than I ever dreamed.
One that you can't live without,
One you see in your dreams,
Kind of like you with me.

I'll do my best to find a great guy,
One that'll make all of my dreams come true.
He'll make me feel complete,
But I promise he'll never take your place.
He'll make me happy nonetheless,
And never answer me with silence.

This was a poem I wrote a long time ago whenever me and my ex-boyfriend Ray broke up. I asked him a question one day, which ruined our relationship, and never got an answer from him. He pretty much answered my question with silence.. so I wrote this poem. Good news is it's been awhile since we broke up and I'm happy to say I've moved on and am with a very special guy named Tyler =) Love ya baby! Muah!!
