The Darkness Within

by Nikki   Oct 30, 2007

As shadows fade I fall asleep
the lonely hours are mine to reap
Ghostly breaths are taken in
I long for freedom once again

The pain so fresh it seeps about
just one more pill will straighten this out
Do I cut or Do I hang
it doesn't matter it's all the same

A bottle, a glass, razor or twine
all I need to settle my mind
Just one step, a slice or sedate
Will end this existence I've loved to hate

The pain now slowly erased
as an empty expression fogs my face
A silent lifeless stare hangs about
as my body sways round and round

Flowing river of redness seeps
As shadows fade I fall asleep

Powerful, greatly written and filled with emotions. You did good job with rhymes, creating truly flawless flow through the whole piece. I can relate to this piece in many ways.
I like the way you write- putting so many excellently expressed emotions in the poems.
