The True Gift of Happiness

I believe in doing only what makes you happy.
And before you think that's being self-conceited,
Let me branch off from that.
If making other people happy makes you happy,
Then do it.
If giving something to someone
Without expecting something in return makes you happy,
Then do it!
I believe that in order to make other people happy
You have to be happy yourself first.
And if you try to make someone else happy
But you lessen yourself in the process,
Doesn't that cancel out the whole thing?
I don't think a real genuine person would be happy
If it caused someone else unhappiness.
But I've been wrong before.
I believe happiness is the best emotion in the world
Because you feel free to love, hope, and trust
With no limits.
Happiness is what makes living tolerable in my opinion.
Because if you don't feel happiness,
You don't feel the joy of living.
If you make yourself happy,
You make people around you happy,
Because happiness creates this aroma of excitement all around,
And there is nothing better then that.

I know it's hard to be happy all the time,
Believe me I know,
But I have had those moments when you just feel so alive with happiness,
That you forget the problems of the world.
Sometimes we just all have to realize
That the world's problems don't have to come first.
In the long run
It's best to do whatever possible to help it in any way.
But I believe that what should always come first is our own personal needs.
We are the stars of our own stories,
And when you can accept the way you are
And see the true gift in your own individuality,
That's when you can really see the true value in everyone else.
Only within ourselves can we first experience the true gift of happiness
And from there we can share it with the world.
