Sometimes it seems as though the whole world is blind
Refusing to see until one day they find
It's too late
And time doesn't wait
We've come to the brink
And we only ever helped ourselves sink
This pit we're sliding into is impossibly deep and dark
The mere sight of it makes brave men go stark
White with fear
Crying a warning everyone refuses to hear
Blissfully ignorant of the stone round their neck
They think "What the heck?"
As slowly they begin to sink
They don't even think
To empty their pockets of heavy and dangerous toys
It's never enough, these temporary joys
"More!" they shout
Searching round and about
'Till they find what isn't theirs
And try to take it for "Hers"
The land of the free, home of the disease
We take what we want, to make our lives a breeze
Without a thought for our brothers overseas
Turning a deaf ear upon their cries and pleas
Their lives are war
And what is it for?
To fuel our comforts and toys
They were only ever temporary joys
There was only ever enough to bring us our demise
And it was Men who did devise
Unknowing, the tools that would drain our planet dry
Destroying everything, down to the last fly
We have become, like a bully of six
Taking from others, 'cause ours we cannot fix
Like a smoker, not wanting to quit
Causing our cancer, we didn't give a shit
Happily we rush at breakneck speed
Sinking quickly now, without heed
At the end we will see, as if without sight
The darkness we made, deeper than any night
Then we will fight, like a fly in a web
As slowly, our strength begins to ebb
Obliteration awaits, things whisper from the deep
A screaming silence, it eternally echoes in our sleep.
