Moon Tears

by firexdancer   Nov 2, 2007

One last breath,
like a million screaming fires.
Give me rest,
let my swollen eyes slide slowly shut to earth.
Let my lungs give one last shudder,
as I cry, like moonlight spilling softly from my eyes.
For all the tortured people in this world,
for their losses and their sorrows on this earth.
And once I really dreamt I was a bird,
as I soared throught the sky I could sing,
but my wings were dry and broken so I fell,
here I am today crying in bed.
The butterflies came flying overhead,
I reached my arms towards them screaming for help,
hoping that they'd come to bring me back,
to the oceans of blue that gave me birth.
The wolves called to me softly from their lairs,
the bears roaring with courage in their hearts.
But all I can ever do is cry,
as the silver tears keep falling from inside.
For all the broken children in my mind,
the millions of heartaches and black lies,
a wilting rose of crimson am I,
like the star that never learned how to shine.
The moon still taunts me from above,
it's brilliance is blinding as if love,
the burns it leaves behind all turn to gold,
these tears still streaming softly down my mind.
And if all the tears there are in this world,
could be collected in a bowl and set aside,
the tears would turn to light and start to fly,
because stars must always return to the night.
