Laid To Rest

by marilyn marti   Nov 2, 2007

I cry at the sight that's before my eyes
my brother is bleeding, I watch as he dies
My only companion can't leave me alone
Who will I talk to when no one's at home?
One single stray-bullet right into his chest
All of the blood is such a big mess
He's trying to tell me a couple small words
"I love you sister," was the last thing I heard
I sit there confused, I hold onto his hands
Please bring him back, I don't understand
We were playing catch in the front lawn
Then in a second, my brother is gone
How could this happen, happen to me?
I feel so angry, I can't almost breathe
People are watching, I don't hear a sound
I can't feel my heart, there's people all around
Who could have done this, and please say why?
One moment I was smiling, and now I cry
I couldn't save him, I couldn't do a thing
This can't be real, it must be a dream
God bring him back, this is all I want
I can't take this pain, I can't move on
I have no more strength left in my soul
I watched him suffer I watched him go
I'll miss you brother, and all our good times
You're gone forever, and I'm left behind
One day I hope to see you, I wish you the best
"Goodbye", I whisper, as we lay you to rest..
