Pushing On

by Lyndsay Kalyta   Nov 2, 2007

It's been five years today,
Since she laid him in the ground
It's been lonely in their house
Without him around

She lies awake at night
Asking God to bring her home
She's finding it so hard
To get by on her own

Time's been good and time's been bad
Life's made her smile and made her sad
She looks back now and can hear him say,
"Don't let those tears get in your way"
Now that her love is gone
She's pushing on

He watched her grow for twenty years
Now he's walking her down the aisle
As he hugs her one last time
He hides his tears with a smile

He doesn't want her to go
But he's proud to give her away
She looks just like her mother did
On their wedding day

Time's been good and time's been bad
Life's made him smile and made him sad
He's standing there as he hears her say,
"Dad, don't let those tears get in your way"
Now that his baby girl is gone
He's pushing on
