Shattering rain

In a car
it's raining.
every drop
i see,
shatters
like diamonds
as they flicker
down the windshield.
and i watch
with bated breath
for the next raindrop
to shatter
and fall
like glass
down to the earth
as they hit the window
i wonder
if we are just
as fragile
