The Last Kiss

by David Rances   Nov 5, 2007

Walking along the shoreline

The waters lick our feet, then recedes back to the sea

The moon shining over us

Illuminating you, as beautiful as you can be

I throw a few jokes around

And listen to your laugh, sweet as honey

After a while the silence comes over us

As we enjoy each other's company

The sea breeze passes by

And I feel you shiver from the cold

Holding you tighter in my arms

Keeping you from the icy hand's hold

You turn around and face me

Smiling, as if you were the happiest in the world

I look at you, wondering in my mind

Is this really true? Will this last until we grow old?

I move slowly forward, heading towards you

As you close your eyes

Our lips become the saints' hands

Coming together as if in prayer

Sweet, sweet love oh how wonderful

Outside, I'm the happiest in the world but inside, I cry

I wish and will this to be a good-night

But to no avail, because this is good-bye
