Tortoise and The Hare.

by babblingxbrooke   Nov 5, 2007

The tortoise and the hare is quite a story you see;
for if you read between the lines, you will know what I mean.

the hare was oh so confident; he glowed with pride.
while the tortoise was looked down upon, for he carried a shell to hide.

the hare wanted to prove that he was the best,
all the tortoise wanted, was to put the situation to rest.

the race started; the hare thought he had it made.
so he decided to take a nap, under the tree in the shade.

the tortoise came around the bend,
he was getting weaker, but was determined,
to finish the race until the very end.

the hare was no where in sight,
so the tortoise pushed on, with all his might.

everyone knows how the story ends; the tortoise takes the win and the hares confidence fell.
and at this moment the tortoise realized it was time to break away from his shell.

in a way,
I guess you could say,

that I long to be the tortoise; the turtle.
who was determined to jump over all his obstacles and hurtles.

I'm still carrying this shell and strength I'm starting to lack.
and when racing there's no looking back.

in the race, I hope to break free,
to break the shell that is still surrounding me.
