Moon and stars

by megann anne   Nov 5, 2007

When the Sun goes away,
the Moon come out to play.

but the Moon is lost,
he's in disguise.

he'll play you right,
he'll tell you lies.

and even though the stars still shine,
everything that shines will dull in time

and the moon; he is a fake,
when you let your guard down, your heart he'll take

and stars have lost their brightness indeed,
the moon, so full of pride and greed,

the moon stands brighter than the rest,
always trying to look his best

but his light; his light he fakes,
reflected is the light he takes

but the stars, they are real,
but they seem to small, too small to feel

but their light, its there
even though they're not treated fair

and if the moon were to disappear,
their life they could live, a life without fear

and when the moon goes away
the stars are happy, and their light is okay,

but the moon will be there, all their long life
and the stars will learn to cope with the strife

and the stars stay bright, and they stand on their own
and the moon goes on, its light not shone

and so the story has been told
of a dark world, that gets too cold,
and a broken heart that's been too bold,
and a wasted love you cannot hold.
