Crawling Inside

by Cooper   Nov 5, 2007

"I hate myself more than you hate me. Because I know myself, more than you know me."
- Inspired by "Ghostflowers", by Otep.

You want to see me burn in desire,
this heart won't be singed black; I am living fire.
You will know me by the hate that I hide,
hang me by the fingertips and leave me out to dry.

She picks flowers
from the gardens of massacre,
growing on her fading corpse.
He can't see
or be the man dying so lonely,
buried in the soil of romantic decay.

I split you open,
CRAWL INSIDE.
I lose myself,
and BATHE IN YOUR LIES.

Make me out of concrete
and the ashes of Goddesses smoking cigarettes.
I will walk upon the smoking glass,
barefoot
and watch the homeless pass.

The names we say are bitter and cold,
I feel these organs twist, going weak and old.
These inner whispers loud as symphonies,
written by the wishing to be dead,
and composed by those shot in the head.

You split me open,
TEAR ME APART.
You lose everything,
when you EAT MY HEART.

We split each other open,
CRAWL INSIDE.
Eating the remains of nothing,
tastes LIKE CYANIDE.

Wow... So, someone knows that exact feeling? I;m surprised, lol :) I can deeply relate to this astonishing piece of yours, truly impressive poem.
You expressed emotions mantled with deepest darkness... amazing!

The last stanza was a little strange, I think you could make the ending that tiny bit better. As usual its dark, twisting, but romantic and enchanting. Just once I'd like to read a poem from you that had happy imagery, lol, though thats not your style. Perhaps you could write one just for me. Think of it as a challenge... Otherwise keep it up, the imagery is vivid and its amazing to have followed you from the early stages of your writing to pieces like this!
