What It's Like To Run.

by ALEX   Nov 6, 2007

Listen to the thump-thump rhythm,
of your sneakers on the pavement.
Fall into that pattern, 'till you hear it in your dreams.
And if and when that beat gets skewed, I promise, you can bet
the muscles in your poor left leg will weep.
Push hard up the uphills, then relax on the down.
Shield your eyes with your lashes; wear your runner's frown.
Hang up your trainers at the end of the day; sleep.
Wake up early, come morning, grab your keys; don't forget.
Discover the relativity of time, how long that first mile seems.
Fill yourself again, with deep thoughts and sentiment;
Listen to the thump-thump rhythm.
