The Last Dragon

by Sage   Nov 6, 2007

Fight or flight
A dragon backed into a corner,
Their words
Clawing at her eyes
Distorting her view
Shattering here delicate heart
This world is a cold cell
Frosting over her companions
Still warm body
Though his heart has stopped
Now
There is no one close, no one to love
She lived in fear
But does she care now?
Her reason for living is
Lying in a dead heap before her
Pain is all she knows now,
But there was once a time
When she dreamt, and smiled, and laughed
Now
She is trapped
Trapped in the cellar of her mind
Scared to make the choice
To let go….
The fork in the road of life
Is before her…
Live alone until death
Or join her mate in it now?
The end result frightens her
Life is passing in
Slow movements
As is waiting for her to choose
Now
Later
Now
Later
She closes her eyes and says to the world
“I have lived to love and be loved but, I
See now that is not an option…”
A stab at her heart and she
Falls to the ground,
Crying…

Now,
Looking down upon them
She still pity for them…
No one will ever see a dragon again
For she and her mate,
Were the last dragons standing…

These lines were indeed frightening, but your organization and flow flies throughout the whole poem. 5/5
