Sorry, My Dear

by RB   Nov 7, 2007

Felt the warmth in the curve of your chest, comforted by your touch. No worries at all, just you and I.

Or so it seemed.

From the corner of my eye, I witnessed the struggle. His struggle. The two of us together he could not bear. In your place he wishes to be, holding me.

Imagining what it would be like, he hides his emotions well. Not well enough. And I can tell. I understand what he feels.

And he tried so hard to win my heart, yet to another it belonged. I feel his pain, his heartache, for I understand. And I have felt it before.

The feeling is unforgettable. Painful and agonizing. Sharp edges of a broken heart cut deep. In time, the edges wear out, yet the broken heart never mends.

It hurts less, building a resistance to the pain, but sometimes it's still there. Sometimes it still hurts.

With a heavy heart I must admit, the hearts desire cannot be denied, but eventually it can fade. And other names and faces will come and go, and for you my dear, I hope, that you will find your true hearts desire.

I may not be yours, but there will be one. One for you, your true love.
