A short while with a stranger

by Arunansu   Nov 7, 2007

Once, I hit upon Love in my way.

She asked,
What if the road finishes here?
I told,
I shall cherish my residual life
wrapped in your wings.

She contemplated,
What if
you fail to perceive
my soft susurrus?

Even if my senses
cease to function,I emphasized,
Love will pass on
a thousand words
in silence.

She fidgeted,
You may get weary
in my embrace.

I calmed her,
My environs may dry up
without you,
I prefer to get drained
in your feel.

Yet, she said,
the upshot
of our coming together
is a divide of this road
into two offshoots.

Nowadays,
early hours of every night
make me weigh in mind
why that stranger
had to
fade away.

Why?
