My Mind Doesn't Agree With My Heart

My mind is saying one thing.
But my heart is saying another.
If this turns out to be a bad ending,
It's only going to make me tougher.

It's eating me up inside.
I feel like I'm being played.
I guess this is payback
For all the mistakes I've made.

I even pray to God
That things will turn out right.
I even wish upon the stars
That lie asleep in the sky at night.

Can I really trust her words?
Is she going to do me wrong?
I feel like I'm slowly dying.
Now I can't stand to listen to love songs.

If there is somebody else,
I would rather she tell me than sneak.
I tried to resist falling in love
But I guess my heart was too weak.

My friends tried to warn me.
But I just thought they were jealous.
I made too many sacrifices.
I even put her before the fellas.

I should've known it was going to happen.
I should've seen it from the start.
So now I end this poem still confused. Why?
Because my mind doesn't agree with my heart.
