Right In Front of You

by RB   Nov 7, 2007

You wanted me, remember?

You were the one who started things.
I tried it out for a while,
but never let myself all the way in.

I wasn't sure what you wanted.

You tried to get to know me,
and slowly I let down my guard.

This is when I realized that you wanted me,
and I wanted you.

I had never felt anything like it before.
I was really falling for you.
It kind of scared me,
but I liked the thrill.
Things were going well,
or at least it seemed.

Then you changed.

You pulled back,
you pulled away.
I didn't understand it,
and I didn't want to believe it.
I asked you what you wanted,
and you said time.
You said you didn't want to start something,
something that you didn't have time for.
You didn't want the spark to die.
You asked me what I wanted,
and I said you.
I said now.

Slow, we decided,
but now.

This wasn't what you wanted,
but you wanted to make me happy.
You didn't want to hurt me.
You're a really good guy, you know?
I can tell.

But I still don't understand why you can't see what's standing right in front of you.
