Each day she stands, On the lake's sandy shore, A white lily in her hands. Blond hair stiffly stained red, Blowing still in an unseen breeze, She thinks of things left unsaid. Her white dress whispers things, As blood drips down her skirt, hers or another's? But she doesn't notice as she sings. Blue eyes bright grow dull, As slowly the trees sing her woeful song, Now she resists, giving her all. Tonight she doesn't want die, To repeat memories over and over again, She tries her hardest till she gives up with a sigh. Ever so slowly she raises her arms, Walking into the water, so cool, so promising, She knows it'll protect her from the world's harms. Knee, stomach, chest, The water flows through her, It knows her best. But a voice stops her, "Faye! Faye!" it calls, Full of worry, full of fear. Slowly she turns to see him, His hair the color of the raven's wing, Should she try and go out on a limb? His pale blue eyes widen, "Pleaseâ?...I love you" he whispers, Inside she is fighting. She wants to go with this guy, Her betrothed, but she doesn't want to be hurt, What's this warm feeling she feels inside? She turns around heading to shore, Something grasps her ankles pulling her under, She fights but what is she fighting for? Water cool and calming fills her lungs, She kicks one last time, the light dimming, The water caresses her with small cat tongues. Then a solid hand grasps hers, He is floating, floating there like a fallen angel, An angel that could end this repeating curse. Instantly she kicks and fights again, With renewed vigor to him, Knowing that if she didn't this would never end. Air hits her like a fist, She coughs up unseen water violently, The lake suddenly covered with mist. A pale figure emerges, Her eyes not quite smiling, Yet her smile encourages. "My child," she says Her voice light and wispy, "You have chosen life so I shall go." Then she was gone into the night. Looking at each other they hug, Laughing and crying at the same time, Each other's heart strings they tug. "I love you, forever true." His voice shaking, both wet, She hears herself saying, "I love you too."
