Discovery

by Matt Swanson   Nov 8, 2007

I came home early to surprise you
I didn't know the darker side of you
The house was cluttered, things on the floor
And light was coming from our bedroom door

I remember not saying a word
I remember walking slowly, fearing the worst
I remember the warmth of the tear on my cheek
I remember it all, cause it was only last week

I approached, I heard you giggle
I opened the door, I saw you wriggle
He was on top, savoring the moment
I lost myself that day.

It kills me most to have never known
Because of the the things I've never been shown
I died inside to keep you alive
I let you win, I let you win.

Moments that are taken
Hearts that are breakin'
Headboards that were quakin'
In your merrymakin'

I wish I'd never have come home that day
Saw you two in the foray
In my nightmares, at the end
You scream the name of my best friend.

I felt your pain in writing this... you succeeded in bringing your pain into words and it brought tears to my eyes
