Tres Palabras

by Dots   Nov 8, 2007

The sound rings once.
The mind dashes to the phone and swiftly the rough hand flips it open. "I miss you too!" is plastered across the screen. He smiles as an itchy pillow floats across the room and makes contact with his face. His friends are mad, for he has stopped the game, but he shrugs off the insults without pride but love.
They don't know the joy that she makes him feel when he is holding her close.
How he feels completely exposed.
How he feels weak around her.
How he is happy amidst the nakedness.
How he is breaking into the unknown.
How he can think about her for hours.
How her baby soft skin compliments his roughness.
How her smile lifts his heart and breaks his defenses.
How her dances brings back good memories.
How her singing brings him closer.
How her thoughts fall upon his eager ears.
How she can know everything about him without asking but by just staring into his soul with those deep-sea eyes that burn with desire and sunlight.
They just don't know.
The insults continue to rebound as he happily digitizes three words into the phone. Five hundred miles away, another phone rings once. She opens it bearing the words:
"I Love You"
