That Day

"That day"

The day with our last happy car ride,
You held my hand when I was on the slide.
My face showed a child's smile,
Only you made finding it worth while.

Never forgot how you told me:
One thing's forever, and that is you and me.
I remember the sun was in my face.
I felt so loved with your safe embrace.

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night,
Looking for you and wondering if you are alright.
But I am alone.
Alone at your gravestone.
God, you can do as you may,
But please, never again remind me of that day.
