Shatter Me [A prison Story]

by Joyce Duboise   Nov 10, 2007

Shatter Me

Bulletproof glass,
"Shatter Me," It screams,
But he knows better,
Things aren't what they seem.

Just a phone reciever,
And a worn out, raspy voice,
Asking himself,once more,
"Why did I make this choice?"

Too many regrets,
Running through his mind,
What has he done?
There is no freedom left for him to find.

Dreams washed out,
Praying each day,
For a simple piece of mail,
To help his problems go away.

Friends turned their heads,
And family did to,
You write them and call,
But somehow,they have forgotten you.

But this is his life,
The hand he was dealt,
How can he rewind it,
How does he forget, this pain that is felt?

Hold onto your hopes,
Always say your prayers,
Remember the past,
And don't forget to care.

Stay strong,
Be tough,
Have faith,
Then things wont feel as rough.

I love you,
Take care,
And remember,
I will always be there.
