He Walks Alone

by Marci   Nov 11, 2007

He walks alone at midnight
As the earth turns below him

Guided by nothing but moonlight
His world seems considerably dim.

His thoughts are shrouded with fears of the dark
Yet he still walks on, ignoring the shadows within them.

His feet mark time
As he wonders which way to go

Voices scream inside his head
All saying the same word, "No!"

His eyes are stained bloodshot
With all his unbearable pain

Yet he still walks on
Hopeing this life will soon change

He looks not at the footprints
Of which he has undoubtedly left in the dust

Only towards the horizon
Where the sun once stood, as it must.

Though dark, it will soon turn to light.
And he will be able to see once again.

He walks alone at midnight
As the earth turns below him.

    Wow!
This was great, I really dig how you have it set up, with two line in each stanza. The flow of it was great as well, it kept me reading.
    Great work.
