Eternally Devoured (Ottava Rima)

by OHgreenman   Nov 11, 2007

Meeting long ago, another century
Eyes locked beginning our life's chapter
Bartering after sailing seven seas
Your undying love became my heart's captor
Port or stern, spirit essence in the breeze
You consumed all thoughts, upon every shore
Returning upon choppy waters, uneased
Tossed overboard, tomb amongst coastal keys

Disquieted woman waits among rocks
Eagerly awaiting her soul mates return
Swaying, humming to foreign music box
Scowled faced, broken; internal fire still burns
Lighthouse beacon illuminates the docks
Month has passed, growing with deeper concern
Ship mate comes with news, 1 A.M. on the clock
Tears flood sleepless eyes, collapsing under shock

Immortal devotion, has never soured
Seeking to complete the chapter love's started
Over numerous lifetimes, I've scoured
To reunite dreams, long ago parted
Our secure relationship has flowered
Past memories making us full hearted
For we are, eternally devoured
Consumed within each other, every hour

I am in awe of anyone who can write this type of form. It flows tremendosly and isn`t forced at all. I would bow to you, but would hit my head on my desk, so I am giving you the a-o.k. sign, this was brilliantly done. Tim

    Wow...
This is so wonderful, absolutely amazing from the beginning to the end. Every line is great, and I am deeply touched.
I like a lot the imagery that you weaved here, along with such original expression of emotions.
    Great job!

P.s- Thanks for the dance :)

It's been a pleasure dancing with you, bows out. Great poem, I liked your choice of words, and I was never bored which tends to happen to me a lot. I'm gonna have to try to write my own poem in this style, it's different :)
