Why Can't You Just Let Me Be?

by Andrea Marsh   Nov 12, 2007

Do you see me sitting here,
Trying not to shed a tear?
You babble on all day to her,
Completely oblivious to me I'm sure.
Yet it feels like you've locked me up in a box,
Sort of like you do with your old alarm clocks.
You think it's funny to pretend you misplaced the key,
Why, oh why, can't you just let me be?
You completely ignore me when I'm there,
Yet when I'm gone you miss me, 'cause I have nothing to share.
If you dislike me so goddamn much,
Then why can't you just release me from your clutch?
I try to find new friends who won't forget,
But you cling on and treat me like shit.
I'm ignored by you and I don't like it, can't you see?
Why, oh why, can't you just let me be?
