The Decietful Night

by Justin Ellison   Nov 13, 2007

Sleep grabs the mind and never lets go,
You begin to drift off to the place where hopes thrive to exist.
Unwillingly, you lose all track of time and matter,
As images become so clear and define.
The unconcious life is now playing god,
And the gentle beat of your heart gives him his purpose.

The first snowflake falls from the heavens,
Leading the storm that thunders in the night.
All the color of betrayal and secrecy,
Erased as the snow takes its place.
The thunder pounds in the sky with such fierocity,
That even you alone won't hear.

For you see, in your dream the night may be silent,
But it is the snow that hides its presence.
Your memory has been altered,
And the color that was once there is now gone.
You have a blank canvas in your hands,
The color of red appears no more.

The night is decietful at its best,
No more are your memories filled with such agony.
This is the place where hopes thrive to exist,
This is the setting of how you forget.
But when the snow melts from time's lingered past,
Will the mind still remember the life it once had?
