Why Try?

by Andrea Marsh   Nov 13, 2007

Why do I try,
When they just make me cry?
Why try out for a sport,
When they tell you, "You suck, get off the court!"
Isn't it enough to just love the game,
And to work really hard to win the team some fame?
Or do you have to be perfect from the start,
Instead of being a beginner, trying to do my part?
Can't you see that your laughs are offensive?
I know I'm not good at shooting, but I'm okay defensive.
Why do people put others down,
And look upon them with a frown?
Can't you see all my tries?
Or do you just look upon me with hate-filled eyes?
I don't like when you yell and laugh at me,
Please, just can't you let me be?
I know I'm not good at basketball, but I'm really going to try,
So next time, please try no to make me cry.
