FORGIVENESS

by Sarah Wallingford   Nov 14, 2007

IVE WALKED DOWN A PATH

iN RECENT TiMES, DiSCOVERY SEiZES ME

STOPS ME WHERE i STAND, AND GLARES

THiS WORRiES ME,SiNCE MY DiSCOVERiES ONLY BROUGHT ME WOES

SWEAT TRiCKLES DOWN HIS OLD CONiVING FACE

HiS EYES GLiSTENiNG OF A BURNING FLAME,

SLOUCHED OVER,HiDEOUSLY DEFORMED;HE WiMPERS

AS i STAND CONFUSED AND TERRiFiED,

i WONDER, SHOULD i HELP THiS DECEiTFUL CREATURE WHO HAS CONSTANTLY BETRAYED ME?

"WHY SHOULD i HELP YOU?" I WiSPERED.

"YOU HAVE ONLY BROUGHT ME PAiN, SORROW, AND HAS GiVEN ME SPiTE."

HE FALLS TO HiS KNEES, THE GROUND SHAKES

" i DOUBTED YOU.." HE CRiES

"i'VE LET MY PAiNS BE TAKEN OUT UPON YOU.

i THOUGHT YOU A WEAKER MORTAL, BUT i SEE THAT iN THiS CRUEL WORLD, YOU TRiUMPH,

i THOUGHT OF YOU, NAiVE

BUT YOU...

ARE MUCH STONGER THAN i."

HE PRESENTED AN OLD STAFF

BEAUTiFULLY CARVED, AND ENGRAVED WiTH SYMBOLS AND WORDS

i CAUTiOUSLY WALK TOWARDS HiM

AND HiS AGED DEFORMED HANDS BEGAN TO SHAKE ViOLENTLY, AND THEY GRASPED MiNE

AND SAYS UNTO ME,

"YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE."

HiS BREATH REAKED OF DEATH, WiTH SHARP DECAYiNG TEETH,HE FORCED A SMiLE

WiTH THiS, HiS EYES WERE GLARiNG iNTO MiNE AND i BEGAN TO FEEL SYMPATHY

i HELD HiS FRAGiLE HEAD iN MY HANDS, AND LEAN iN TOWARDS HIS DiSGUSTiNG UNKEPT EAR...

i BEGAN TO SAY,"i KNOW YOU HURT ME, AND TORTURED MY SOUL.iF ONLY YOU KNEW THAT iN DOiNG THiS,iT MEANT TO RESCUE YOUR POOR DAMNED SOUL. i'VE CRiED MANY NIGHTS, AND HAVE BLED THROUGH THE DAYS...

KNOW THIS,

i FORGiVE YOU, MY FRiEND."

HOT TEARS STREAMED DOWN FROM HiS PiERCING FLAMiNG EYES

AND HE FiNALLY COLLAPSED, CLASHiNG TO THE GROUND,

WHiLE THE STAFF, STiLL STAYS GRASPED iN MY HAND

FORGiVNESS RELiEVES THE MOST OF THESE DAMNED GOD FORSAKEN SOUL

SOME STAY CONDENMED AND POSESSED FOREVER

HATE CAN NOT RiD WiTH HATE

BUT WiTH LOVE,COMPASSiON, AND FORGiVNESS

AS HiS BODY, TURNS COLD, AND STARTS TO DECOMPOSE

I ENGRAVE A SYMBOL TO ADD TO THE OTHERS BEFORE ME ON THE STAFF

A ROSE,TO SYMBOLiZE LOVE

HIS BODY THEN TURNED TO WHiTE ROSE PETALS

AND IT WAS THEN SEEiNG A SEA OF WHiTE, THAT DiSCOVERY WAS UP TO ME, AND iT WAS THESE NEW DiSCOVERiES iN LiFE...THAT WERE WAiTiNG FOR ME TO DiSCOVER THEM.
