And the phone rings again

by Jordan   Nov 14, 2007

Ring, it screams in my ear
Ring, it calls again
Ring, a third and final time
Frantically summoning me

I do not answer
Not one muscle twitches
I refuse to breath that generic greeting
To the one on the other end

I know the words I will hear
Are not to be spoken through your lips
But through those belonging to someone else
Someone I care not to speak with

So I wait and it is silenced
For one moment of quiet
Then again I hear that sound
And the phone rings again

Short and powerful, i think it was very effective in evoking an emotion in the reader. Good write!
