What You Don't Know Can Surely Kill You

by SmileeItsBritt   Nov 15, 2007

Second chances lost to second guesses,
And this fever is causing me to break a sweat
You of course know more than anyone does
I was never one to fold on your best bets
It's like there's fluid up to the rim of my lungs
As I sputter something of an apology
These words blend into over used phrases
And I guess not knowing is what really killed me.

My brain is quickly filling up with toxins
And I'm stifled by the information floating through the air
My heart is shortly out of service,
It has gone into a state of shock, as I found out you always cared
The blazing sun can't scorch my feet
I would walk through hell and back for you
But as these words sink deep inside my skull,
I know you'd do the same thing too.
God knows you already have.

Now we're sprawled out shameless in separate worlds
Struggling to find our closure and peace of mind
I think it's safe to call no winner here
For the clock is up and out of time.
You never knew how much it meant to me,
And I never knew it broke you're heart
As we played tug of war with holding on and letting go,
We were forming shadows in each other's hearts.
So here and now, we release the safety without a second glance
We pull the trigger and close our eyes
The light of freedom shines so delicately now,
My heart beats faster, as we sever these ties.
