Commitment

by RB   Nov 16, 2007

Lost in her own struggle,
Afraid to admit,
Within her lay a problem,
She never could commit.

And so she sat alone,
Trapped inside her dreams,
She fought a raging battle,
Yet no one heard her screams.

Love was not a problem,
For it filled her bursting heart,
It was the love she could not give away,
That was ripping her apart.

Loved and lost so many times,
Yet each time her own fault,
Destroying every love she had,
Opening wounds to pour the salt.

Falling harder every time,
And tumbling way to fast,
Quickly giving all her love,
It was all too good to last.

Lost in his own struggle,
Afraid to admit,
Within him lay a problem,
He never could commit.

And so he sat alone,
Trapped inside his dreams,
He fought a raging battle,
Yet no one heard his screams.

Love was not a problem,
For it filled his bursting heart,
It was the love he gave too quickly,
That was ripping him apart,

To him love was a marathon,
A lovely little game,
Always in a hurry,
It truly was a shame.

Fell faster every time,
Never lingered in the past,
Quickly giving all his love,
It was all too good to last.

Confused and distraught,
All they wished to say,
Was I love you to another,
But they could not find a way.

The day they came together,
No longer were they blind,
And their fleeting hearts became,
So beautifully intertwined.

Committing to another,
Was no longer a fear,
The answers to their questions,
Now becoming clear.

Content with certainty,
Able to commit,
No longer lay a problem,
That they could not admit.
