Sins of the Mortals

by Silver Bells   Nov 16, 2007

Such is the pity of mortals
To shoot and kill
And tell their lies
While secrets pour out
And the firebird flies

And sadly the Gods
Gaze down from the sky
Mourning their anger
And wondering why
Earth just shuddered and turned with a sigh

And our Mother Earth
Our nature inside
Needed no thought before she replied
The humans are greedy
The humans they say

We will have what we want
We will have it our way
We will get what we need
We will get it our way
We will decide when to end the day

But amongst them all
Alone and small
One tiny spirit stood to stand tall
To dig out the weeds
And plant a new seed

So in all the crime
And in all the death
That one tiny spirit who took a big breath
Decided the world shouldn't be so bad
And the gods in the heavens ceased to be mad
