Emergency Tears (Title Toss)

by Sherry Lynn   Nov 17, 2007

911 call frantically dialed
Sirens wail down the street
No time for fears to overtake
Holding the tears welled within

Caressing your cheek while holding your hand
"It will be okay wait and see
the doctors will fix you, please,
Daddy, don't give up on me"

Rosy cheeks turn pale
Sweat pouring all around
Spitting out the stats
As though I'm a pro

Your medical history and meds
Without hesitation I let them know
Keeping an emotional distance
For it is me running the show

After your departure
I crumble to the floor
Suddenly it all hits
Emergency tears now overflow

These words that you write Sherry..just exquisitely beautiful. The last line was the tear jerker...I feel moved by this due to seeing it happen to my brother, a firemen who broke down after a fatal fire took 3 kids away from a family. I will share this with him and it is sure to bring up emotions held deep inside. Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses, Firemen and EMT`S are human too. I applaud your work, definitely one to remember. Always, Tim
