Summer friends, School invisibles

by priya   Nov 18, 2007

Summertime, Old friends get together,

Friends that had been forgotten

Over the last year.

They join for a picnic,

At the beach, â??

Stuffing themselves with platters of many foods.

Watermelon slices, sandwiches, mixed and seasoned

vegetables, and mixed fruits.

They gossip and tell stories of their

Year of school apart.

Later they sit under the blazing stars

and watch the fireworks.

School is starting the next day,

They go back to their new friends,

Pretending to forget the old ones,

With all their memories with them.

They live life as is,

The other doesn't exist.

Till next summer when

They can meet again.

During the summer they are

The closest friends- basically inseparable

But during the school year-invisible.

Itâ??s against the school rules-

For them to even talk.

They would never again-

Be friends as before though,

When they hung out at school

And told each other everything.

Nobody had criticized them thenâ?¦

When they excitedly left Elementary school-Together.

Into Jr. High school,

It changed their friendship permanently.

They drifted away,

But soon realized it was not a good choice.

Now they all lived for those summer moments,

Where they could once again,

Be themselves, be together.

They missed each other,

But had drifted away,

Going along with the stereotypical rules

Of Junior High School.

Not brave enough to stand up,

For themselves- for their friendship.

So until next summer- a whole year awayâ?¦
