Broken White Picket Fence

by Alexandra Jade Brewer   Nov 19, 2007

Staring into that pair of eyes
And hating those amazing smiles
Wishing only for a past
But unreachable by so many miles

It was a time when love was at its high
When nothing stood in the way
When everything was happy
And alcohol hadn't made her mom go astray

Life was as it should be
The always dreamed for white picket fence
Children running around in the yard
And everything made complete sense

But thats not how it is now
And will never again be so
That white picket fence was broken
When the mother decided to go

So instead she throws that picture
To the cold unwanted ground
Watching the glass shatter
Like the past that cant ever be found

Picking up a sliver of glass
And slashing the picture into millions of pieces
Then turning quickly away
As that pain decreases

I loved it, the word choice alone suited the poem, it was really beautifully written and a pleasure to read, and yet so sad. I loved it, well done.
