A Mid-Summer's Eve (Sonnet IV)

by Bryan   Nov 19, 2007

Twas A Mid-Summer's Eve when you stole my heart,
Tis young love and it left me broken in two,
I' ve tried so hard but our love will still depart,
and no matter what I will always love you.

Six months of pain and I still feel the same way,
I think of you and my heart cries crimson tears,
You don't know your what I think about all day,
The way you look at me confirms my worst fears.

I can see your blue eyes in the pouring rain,
I left my broken heart bleeding in your hand,
Maybe one day I wont have to feel this pain,
I' ve tried so hard to stop, lord knows that I can.

But it seems that my heart twas the one deceived,
As I reminisce to A Mid-Summer's Eve.

Yeah, quite the opposite of what Shakespeare's version was meant to portray.

Great job on this piece. The imagery is wonderful.

But it seems that my heart was the one deceived,
    As I reminisce to A Mid-Summer's Eve.

    Loved these ending lines.

I loved this one yet again. It was again another heartfelt piece. It put a smile on my face in more ways then one. One was because of the way you wrote this, so beautiful and elegant. The second was because of my boyfriend your words just remind me of him when we are mucking around with the whole shakespears way of talking. So you really got to my heart deeply with this. Loved it. ~Mel
