Barren of Heartbreak

by Alison   Nov 21, 2007

Nerves tingle
skin crawls
my heart jumps
and the tears fall

where happy conversations once dwelled:
a growing field of silence

kisses are forgotten
now distances remain

your smile once lit the room
but now your cold eyes burn me

we're falling apart
nothing seems to hold us together anymore
cast me away to the wasteland of the broken heart
I'm already there
I'm already there and you'll never realize

confusion and disappointment
nervous butterflies once abound
they've all died off and rotted away
in this barren field of torment
I lay

I starve for your affection
the pulse of your name still lies in my broken heart

it calls for you in the middle of the night

as the last tears fall

I know we've fallen apart
nothing can hold us together anymore
cast away to this wasteland of the broken heart
I still lie there
and you'll never realize

tears frozen
eyes aglaze
the sun fades
and I lie all alone
in complete darkness
forever still

my heart still calls you
from the barren wasteland
it will always call your name
